Calling all Durham youth to become Water Warriors

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is inviting young residents to take part in its annual Water Report Cover Drawing Challenge. Durham residents aged 18 and under are encouraged to become “Water Warriors” by creating artwork that shows how they help protect water in their everyday lives.

Improved weather conditions have aided Township Road maintenance crews as they work to clear roads, sidewalks and parking lots. As a result, the Township is lifting the advisory of a Significant Weather Event that was declared on January 15th, 2026.

For more than 30 years, the Township has been aware that the existing culvert would need replacement. Construction of this project commenced in 2018, and the Township is now in a position to share the full financial disclosure of the largest infrastructure project it has ever undertaken. Township Declares Significant Weather Event

Based on the heavy snowfall, the Township wishes to advise residents that roads may be snow covered and slippery. Residents are asked to drive according to the weather conditions.
