Uxbridge and Scugog Townships Approve Final Budget for New Animal Shelter

Uxbridge and Scugog Townships are pleased to announce significant progress on the new Animal Shelter. Following a comprehensive procurement process, a construction budget of $3.3 million has been approved by both councils, with a total project budget, including contingencies, of $3.8 million.

Whitby, Ontario – As temperatures drop, health risks increase for people experiencing homelessness. Cold exposure can cause frostbite, hypothermia and trench foot, and can make existing health problems—like heart and lung disease—worse.

Township Lifts Significant Weather Event Advisory, Dec. 1st, 2025

Improved weather conditions have aided Township Road maintenance crews as they work to clear roads, sidewalks and parking lots. As a result, the Township is lifting the advisory of a Significant Weather Event that was declared on November 28th.

Drivers and pedestrians are still urged to be cautious as there are localized accumulations of melt water and the potential for icy conditions. Please drive according to the road conditions. ​

Based on the heavy snowfall and high winds creating white-out conditions, the Township wishes to advise residents that roads may be snow covered and slippery. Residents are asked to drive according to the weather conditions. 

Roads, sidewalks and parking lots will be cleared as soon as crews are able to address them.
