The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure on Regional Road 1 in the Township of Uxbridge. Regional Road 1, from north of Sandford Road to 400 metres north of Ashworth Road, in Uxbridge. From July 16 to December 2024. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Heat Warning Issued for Uxbridge and Northern Durham Region July 15th

Environment Canada issued a heat warning on July 15th for the Township of Uxbridge and the surrounding area. A humid airmass has reached the region. Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 29 degrees Celsius with humidex values near 40.

Sidewalk and Culvert Installation Begins along Goodwood Road

Sidewalk and culvert installation began this week along Goodwood Road, from Regional Road 47 to Concession Road 3. The construction is anticipated to conclude on September 1st, weather dependent.
This construction will provide various improvements to the area, including the connection of sidewalk to a recreational facility that includes a playground, sports facility and open space.

Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park Welcomes First Visitors on Opening Day

Over 500 visitors stopped by Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park on opening day to explore existing trails on the property. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Ontario Parks staff and community members were on hand on July 1st to welcome guests and answer questions about the property.

Community Supports First Uxbridge Mini-Forest Project

On Saturday July 6th, 85 dedicated volunteers gathered at the Fields of Uxbridge to lend their time and efforts to the Uxbridge Mini-Forest project.
The first phase of the Mini-Forest project was to prepare the site and soil for future planting. Volunteers put down 2800 sq. ft. of wet cardboard before layering 25 yards of compost on top.
