Ontario Approves Long-term Care Bed Allocation for Uxbridge

UXBRIDGE —The long-term care beds at the Uxbridge Hospital Redevelopment Site have been approved. The long-term care home, which will be run by UniversalCare Canada, will have 192 modern long-term care beds. Long-term care home projects have been fast-tracked with support from the Ontario government’s increased construction funding subsidy. This is part of the government’s commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province.

Township Extends Significant Weather Event Due to High Winds and Snow Accumulation

Based on high winds and snow accumulation, the Township wishes to advise residents that roads may be snow covered and slippery. Residents are asked to drive according to the weather conditions.
Roads, sidewalks and parking lots will be cleared as soon as crews are able to address them.

Township Shares Social Services Survey Results

On Sept. 16th, 2024, the Township, in partnership with Durham Region’s Social Services Department, conducted a survey to identify priority social services needs in the Township. The survey ran for 7 weeks and a total of 225 surveys were completed and collected. The key findings are summarized below.
The top three social issues identified within the community include: lack of affordable housing, food insecurity, and mental health.
