Township of Uxbridge Continues To Serve Residents During Facility Closure...

All Township of Uxbridge facilities are closed to the public. Staff are available to serve residents via email or by calling 905-852-9181 during regular office hours Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Consider using the secure, 'Red Barn' dropbox at the Toronto St. entrance to the Municipal Offices to submit documentation.

Here is a summary of services impacted:

Animal Services
The Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter is closed to the public. Shelter staff continue to look after the animals in their care. Animal Control officers are responding to calls for assistance for sick, stray or injured animals. We always appreciate donations but cannot accept them in person at this time. Animal adoptions have been suspended until further notice. To reach a member of our Animal Services department please call 905-985-9547.

Bids and Tenders
The Township is accepting bids and tenders.  Please mail the bid, use our 'Red Barn' dropbox at 51 Toronto St. S., Uxbridge, or deliver the envelope in person - ring doorbell for service.  Mailed bids must be received at the Township by the deadline stated in the public notice. We will not hold public tender openings. Bid or Tender results will be posted on our Bids and Tenders webpage.

Building Department
The Township of Uxbridge Building Services department will continue to accept applications via regular mail and the Drop Box at Town Hall. By-Law Services
Staff are responding to by-law complaints deemed to be immediate public health or safety concerns. Residents are asked to submit complaints using our online submission form or by email. Complaints will be addressed when it is safe and feasible to do so.

To pay a parking ticket please use our secure, 'Red Barn' dropbox or pay online. To speak to a parking officer please leave a message at 905-852-9181 or email bylaw@uxbridge.ca.

Employment Opportunities
The Township and its associated entities are accepting job applications for current positions. The interview process to fill positions may be delayed or postponed. Applications and resumes may be submitted electronically, through the mail, or in our 'Red Barn' dropbox. Closing dates still apply.

Facility Rental
The Township has cancelled all bookings and rentals of halls and venues until further notice except for the Blood Donor Clinic. Future bookings will be accepted at 905-852-6761 or via email with the caveat that they may be cancelled as the situation dictates. Refunds are available for permits or rentals that have been cancelled.

Fire Permits
The Township of Uxbridge has issued a burn-ban for all open-air fires. This ban is in place to reduce unnecessary fire calls and to keep our Emergency Services staff focused and ready to respond to the Community’s needs during the COVID 19 situation. No new fire permits are being issued at this time. The public is asked to call 905-852-9038 to check on the status of the fire ban.

Fire Services
The Fire Hall at 301 Brock St. W. is closed for tours and public admission. The administration desk in the lobby is staffed to handle essential matters. Our Fire Services will continue to respond to all emergency situations.

Garbage Bag Tags
The Region is temporarily implementing a six garbage bag limit and that garbage tags are not required. As such, the Township has suspended the sale of garbage bag tags. Legislative Services
Please contact the Clerk’s Department by phone at 905-852-9181 or email to apply for licenses, permits, freedom of information requests, or other legal/procedural matters. A Commissioner of Oaths is available by appointment for matters of extreme urgency. No on-site wedding ceremonies will be performed until further notice.

All Township Advisory Committee and Board meetings have been cancelled until further notice. Council/Committee of Council meetings may be cancelled. This will be decided on a case-by-case basis at the appropriate time. The Clerk’s department is receiving correspondence by email, the ‘Red Barn’ drop box and Canada Post.

Planning Services
All statutory public meetings and pre-consultation meetings have been cancelled. Meetings of the Committee of Adjustment have been temporarily suspended. Pre-consultation meetings will be scheduled for a later date and may need to be conducted via tele-conference. Public Works
Public Works Staff will continue to manage roads. Residents are asked to report any problems by email or by calling 647-224-4307. Construction work on the Brock St. Culvert project will continue.

Recreational Services
All recreational programs and services have been suspended until further notice. Indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, playgrounds, and all amenities have been closed until further notice. This includes the arena, pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, the off-leash dog park, the skate park and the pump park. Parks, trails and the Countryside Preserve remain open but residents are advised that they use at their own risk. Please avoid close contact with other park users and maintain a 2 metre (6 foot) physical distance between people.

Recycling Containers, Green Bins etc.
The Township has suspended the sale or exchange of green bins, compost bins or recycling containers.

Transit Tickets
Durham Region Transit (DRT) is temporarily not requiring fares to use the transit system. Transit passes are not available from the Township. Payments for Property Taxes or other Township services can be made by mail or through our ‘Red Barn’ drop box (no cash please). Please make cheques payable to the Township of Uxbridge. Payments can be made via internet or telephone banking or through your Financial institution. You may contact the Treasury department by email or call 416-809-0876.

Water and Sewer Bill Payments
The Township is not accepting Region of Durham Water and Sewer payments at this time. The Region of Durham has suspended all water and sewer bill late payment charges. For more information call the Region at 1-800-465-6611 or waterbilling@durham.ca.

Water Testing
The Region is still conducting water testing. Please pick up and return sample bottles for testing at 181 Perry St., Port Perry. Drop off samples on the east side of the rear entrance. For more information please call 905-985-4889.
