The Regional Municipality of Durham is proposing to reconstruct Concession Road 7 (Regional Road 1) from 200 metres south of Sandford Road (Regional Road 11) to 400 metres north of Ashworth Road, and from 100 metres south of Foster Drive to Harrison Drive, in the Township of Uxbridge.

The proposed work will include:

  • Pavement reconstruction, including a two-metre wide paved shoulder.
  • Replacement of culverts.
  • Road grade adjustments and ditch construction.
  • Installation of guide rail.
  • Right and left turn lanes on Regional Road 1 at the Sandford Road intersection.
  • Storm sewer and curb and gutter from 340 metres south of Harrison Drive to Harrison Drive.
  • Roadway lighting at intersections.

Utility relocations are in progress and are scheduled to be completed in spring 2024. Tree removals have been completed. The proposed road reconstruction work is currently planned to commence in early summer 2024 with completion in summer 2025. Additional notices will be issued prior to construction to confirm the start date and contact information for Regional construction staff. Regional Road 1 will be closed to through traffic within the project limits to facilitate the construction and ensure safety of workers and motorists. Road closure dates will be confirmed in future public notices. Traffic will be detoured along Davis Drive, Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) and Regional Road 13. Local and emergency access to properties within the project limits will be maintained throughout the construction.
