The Township of Uxbridge Trail Committee has planned a series of guided trail walks taking place from April to December of this year.

There are 6 guided walks in the series each with its own theme. Descriptions of each walk are provided below:

  • Tree ID - April 24th, 10:00-11:15 a.m.
    • Learn ways to identify trees by their bark, branching buds, and colouring.
  • Flora and Fauna – June 1, 2:00-3:00 p.m. (meeting at the Second Wedge Brewing Co.)
    • In partnership with the Second Wedge Brewing Co., this family event, teaches about trees, insects, and birds. See what mother nature offers.
  • Insects and Fungus - September 14, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
    • Insects and Fungus are our friends! They are not pests, but are in fact very beneficial to our ecosystem. Although boring and foliating insects look destructive, they actually are not. Trees are dependent on insects and fungus for their survival. Take this guided hike to learn more.
  • Awaken Your Senses in the Dark - October 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
    • For children and adults. Awaken your senses in the dark with this evening walk starting with the use of head lamps or flashlights, followed by exploring in the dark.  Get your senses going to build trail awareness and navigation skills.
  • December’s Moon Light Walk - December 12, 6:30-7:15 p.m.
    • Join a guided hike to observe the full moon, in the absence of streetlights at the Countryside Preserve. Bring a flashlight or headlight for the beginning of the walk - it should be bright enough at the end!

Email trails@uxbridge.ca or phone 905-852-3081 Ex. 506 to register for any of these guided walks.
