Nonquon and Smith bridge replacements in the townships of Scugog and Uxbridge

The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin construction of the bridge replacements over the Nonquon River and Pefferlaw Creek in the townships of Scugog and Uxbridge. The limits of the work include Reach Street between Highway 12/7 and Marsh Hill Road and Sandford Road between Concession Road 2 and Concession Road 3.

Construction Schedule
The Region’s contractor, Soncin Contracting Ltd. anticipates completing the work by November 2024.

Road Closures and Lane Restrictions
Reach Street and Sandford Road will be closed with no vehicle or pedestrian access permitted across the bridges between May 15, 2024, and November 29, 2024. Traffic detours will be established and communicated redirecting traffic around the sites for the duration of the closures.

Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
