Thanks to the generous donations of the community coupled with the participation of the Government of Canada and the fundraising efforts of local firefighters, the Firefighter’s Association,  in partnership with the Uxbridge Fire Department, the Township of Uxbridge and the Uxbridge Scott Historical Society, has achieved their fundraising goal for the Firefighter Memorial and Garden! Planning for construction has begun at the Uxbridge Fire Hall and next steps include preparing the site and installing the foundation for the monument.

The unveiling of the Uxbridge Firefighters Memorial Statue and Reflective Garden will be held on October 5th, 2024, to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Uxbridge Fire Department, formerly known as the Uxbridge Fire Brigade.

This project and anniversary year gives the opportunity to reflect on and commemorate the years of dedicated service to the community and honour the service of the many members who served and continue to serve; those who have died in the line of duty; those who have died while in active service with the department; and those with decades of services.

The ceremony will kick-off with a short parade on Brock St. W. which will start at the Arena and head west to the Fire Hall. The parade begins at 1:30p.m. and will feature antique fire vehicles and past and present members of local Fire Services. Community members are welcome to attend the unveiling ceremony at the Uxbridge Fire Hall immediately after the parade.  Lastly, a reception will follow the ceremony, commencing at 3:00p.m.

In addition, an exhibit highlighting the long history of the Fire Service will be unveiled at the Uxbridge Fire Hall later this year. The exhibition will tell the story of the Uxbridge Fire Brigade, the original fire department in town, and include a curated collection of items and stories from both the Fire Department and private collections.
