Last held in 2019, the Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) is bringing back the Brook Never Sleeps event, last held in 2019, offering local youth a chance to explore the ecology of the Uxbridge Brook through a full-day interactive workshop.

This free, hands-on educational event, designed for youth aged 10 – 14, will take place on Friday, November 15th, from 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m. – PA Day for both elementary and high school students.

Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including trapping minnows, surveying the creek for benthic creatures, fly tying and casting, and learning about local birds and watershed ecology. The event will also feature visits from Scales Nature Park and the Toronto Zoo, where children will have the opportunity to meet animals up close and hear indigenous stories about the local ecosystem.

Since part of the event takes place outdoors, attendees are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.

This workshop was made possible through partnerships with Scales Nature Park, Toronto Zoo, Uxbridge Bird Friendly Committee, Trout Unlimited, Boston Pizza Uxbridge, and the Township of Uxbridge.
