The second phase of the Township of Uxbridge and the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority’s tree removal project is scheduled to commence October 1st, 2024, with the removal taking place in the area located on the West side of 2nd Avenue, between Rosena Lane & Bolster Lane.
In a continuous effort to restore this area, Manitoba Maples, an invasive species which prevents the growth of other species, will be removed from the meadow. The removal will be conducted with a mulching machine, removing the trees while leaving a layer of mulch to provide nutrients for new plants. Once removed, more native trees and shrubs will be planted on October 19th.
Please expect some noise from running machinery during this time.
The first phase of this restoration project was successfully completed back in the spring of this year, with over 100 native trees and shrubs planted by roughly 15 volunteers.
