The Township of Uxbridge Fire Department is hiring volunteer firefighters. Applications are currently being accepted until September 13th for interested and qualified candidates.
The role of a volunteer firefighter is both rewarding and challenging. Upon successful completion of the recruit training program, volunteer firefighters respond to a variety of emergency responses including structure fires, vehicle fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and public hazard incidents.
Volunteer firefighters are paid hourly rates for training, emergency responses, scheduled public events and other approved duties. Successful applicants will possess the following qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or academic equivalent.
- Be able to respond in a timely fashion, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possess a clean criminal record.
For those with any questions or those interested in learning more, make sure to attend one of the two the Recruitment Information Sessions being hosted. The first session takes place on Sept. 5th, and the second session on Sept. 9th, both starting at 7:00p.m. at the Uxbridge Fire Hall (301 Brock St. W).
